The Future Is Driverless Cars, or Is It?
Driverless or Autonomous cars are the future of transportation, and the future is closer than you may think.
The Advances Toward Renewable Energy Storage
Storing the surplus of renewable energy in batteries for later use seems like the obvious solution, but a new study from Stanford University suggests this might not always be the case.
We may Run Out of Water for Energy Production by 2040
Research shows that there will not be enough water in the world to meet demand by 2040 it the energy and power situation doesn’t improve by then.
Making Solar Cells Out of Old Car Batteries
Researchers at MIT are proposing a system that recycles materials from old car batteries, a potential source of lead pollution, into new, long-lasting solar panels that provide emissions-free power.
Electricity in a Nutshell
Electricity is found all around us, it produces a wide variety of effects, such as lightning, static electricity, electromagnetic induction and electrical current. Electricity is the flow of moving electrons. Flowing electrons are called an electrical current.
The Difference Between Galvanic Cells and Electrolytic Cells
Oxidation-reduction, or redox reactions, take place in electrochemical cells. There are two different types of electrochemical cells. Spontaneous reactions occur in galvanic (voltaic) cells, and nonspontaneous reactions occur in electrolytic cells.
A New Strategy for Creating Cellulose Fibers
According to a patent issued to a team of researchers at The University of Alabama, using liquid salts during formation instead of harsh chemicals can strengthen fibers that conduct electricity.
Conductive Clay Creates More Possibilities for Energy Storage
In the feverish race to discover thinner and thinner materials with the surface area and conductivity to make better performing battery electrodes, a lump of clay may be the answer. Drexel University’s College of Engineering scientists has invented clay which is both highly conductive and can be easily molded into a variety of … Continue reading Conductive Clay Creates More Possibilities for Energy Storage
Blu-Ray Discs Improve Solar Cell Performance
Blu-ray discs are already one of the best ways to store high-definition movies and TV shows because of their high-density data storage. Now, new research from Northwestern University states they also improve the performance of solar cells.
