Sometimes we need to stop in our busy lives to realize just how blessed we truly are and thank the brave men and women who made a lot of it possible for us.

Thank you for including them in your holiday, Michael!

Thank you for your kind words but I didn’t do anything. What I did pales in comparison to what they have done for all of us. I think sometimes it’s easy to get too caught up in our own busy lives and our own drama trips to forget what sacrifices were made so we have the opportunity to share in these holidays with our families.
We forget the price that was paid so that we can enjoy the lives we choose. And yes the freedom we have been given to take a knee at the playing of our National Anthem, even though I don’t approve of this form of peaceful protest. Our brave men and women paid the ultimate price so that even that form of peaceful protest could be displayed. As well as my right to say I think it’s a disgusting action whether or not I understand the reason for the need to protest.
All I am saying is there is so much all of us (yours truly included) take for granted every day that was paid for us in blood. Some families forever spend Thanksgiving without a loved one who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. And that to me is such a selfless loving action that I can’t even begin to fathom it.
To love your country and your brothers and sisters so much that you take a chance of never ever being able to realize your own dreams. The only word I can think of to describe that is WOW! I don’t know if I could ever be that big of a man. I would hope I could but I don’t know.
So this Thanksgiving weekend stop to just say, hey thank you and live your life in freedom that’s what will please them and honor their memories.

I simply go by GP, Michael. I grew up with too many in my family having the same name! haha (Guess they didn’t have much imagination).

Sounds good GP. Actually, my family is about as imaginative. The tradition is that every woman loves her brother so much she names her first boy after him. So I am Michael, named after my uncle Mike. Mike is the adult namesake and the boy is Michael, for ease of recognition.
